Have you ever thought to hide a gun in your bedroom with a gun magnet, a gun safe, and/or a bedside gun holster? If you are a gun owner and have burglaries/home invasions in your neighborhood, the answer is likely “yes”.
It’s a natural thought process – with the threat of break-ins, home protection for when you’re sleeping becomes crucial. When you are asleep, you are in your most vulnerable state. Thus, ensuring that you have quick access to your gun in your bedroom at a moment’s notice is key to having a safer home.
“Tell me, James, do you still sleep with a gun under your pillow?” “Hell yeah I do!”
In this post, we break down 7 different ways to hide a gun in your bedroom with a gun magnet. Optimizing bedside firearm protection is a bit different than hiding a gun in your car with a gun magnet, but similar concepts come into play. Let’s get started!

It’s time for you to take action!
1) How to hide a gun in your bedroom by the side of the bed frame
If you’ve ever tried using a bedside gun holster, this setup should be very familiar to you.
The typical bedside gun holster
In this case, we are using a gun magnet instead of a bedside holster. The major advantage of using a magnetic gun mount here is the variety of angles you are able to position the gun at. Using a bedside gun holster positions the handle of your firearm parallel to the ground. Depending on the way you sleep, this may or may not be the most comfortable position for you to draw your gun in emergency scenarios.
First, find a place on the side of the bed to install the gun magnet. Be sure that this is a place you can comfortably reach while laying down. Some things to take into account are 1) where on the bed you normally sleep, 2) what position you normally sleep in (on your back, facing downwards, etc.), and 3) the length of your arm. We suggest doing some “test runs” involving grabbing at the side of your bed while laying down to find your most comfortable gun magnet location.
Try out different areas on the bed frame to install the gun magnet to find the most comfortable position for yourself
Then, attach the magnetic gun mount to the desired location on your bed frame.
A very easily accessible location
PRO TIP: try to keep the rare earth magnet gun mount high enough on the bed frame so that your blanket can cover it. This allows you to reach your firearm beneath your blankets without attracting any attention, should a home invader enter your bedroom.
2) Mounting a gun on the headboard
Headboard bedside gun holsters/racks are quite common nowadays amongst gun owners looking to rack rifles on their beds for easy access.
I’ve seen this somewhere in Men in Black…
As this is more bulky, clunky, and out in the open, I’m not a big fan. Also, for hidden headboard storage areas as seen above, accessing your firearm quickly is difficult. However, with a magnetic gun mount, you can set up a much more discreet and accessible solution.
“X” marks the spot!
Find a spot on the headboard that you can easily reach while in your normal sleep position, and attach the gun magnet to it.
PRO TIP: install the gun mount lower on the headboard so that your pillow slightly covers it. This allows you to discretely reach the gun from underneath your pillow.
3) How to hide a gun in your bedroom by the side of the bedside table
Not exactly what we were looking for…but badass nonetheless
The days of using your bedside table as just a place to put your alarm clock or cell phone are over. Since your bedside table is more or less aligned with your head/hands, attaching a gun magnet to it allows you to have very easy access to your firearm.
Use either 3M tape or screws, depending on the thickness of your bedside table
However, if the table is somewhat lighter, drawing your gun from the magnetic gun mount may pull the table with it. To prevent this from happening, when drawing the gun peel the handle of the gun towards yourself so only the edge of the gun magnet is touching the barrel. Then, twist your wrist slightly to remove the gun from the magnet.
4) Mounting your firearm underneath the bedside table
Similar to hiding a gun on the side of the bedside table, since your table is likely aligned with your bed, reaching underneath it to draw your gun is a very fast motion to perform.
NOTE: if you have drawers on your bedside table, this may not be a viable option
5) How to mount your gun behind the bedside table against the wall
In this setup, the magnetic gun mount is installed on the wall behind the bedside table.
Be sure to leave room between the wall and the table for your hand to draw the gun
PRO TIP: attach the gun magnet on the wall somewhere below the top of your bedside table, allowing the table to block the view of the gun. Should an emergency arise, you would reach behind the table and draw the gun off the wall.
6) How to hide a gun underneath the bed
This one will keep the monsters under the bed away! Here, the magnetic gun mount would be attached to the wooden panels beneath the bed.
If you look closely, some say you’ll see a face…BOO!
Since there’s significant room underneath your bed and your gun will be completely concealed, you have more options here. A few of my friends have their gun magnets set up beneath their beds to secure AR-15s.
For a handgun, this would work better than having a bedside gun holster attached beneath the bed. With a magnetic gun mount, you have the freedom to both pull the gun off the magnet mount down towards yourself (if you are beneath the bed) and to pull the gun off the magnet from the side of the bed (if you are next to the bed).
PRO TIP: install the magnetic gun mount closer to your side of the bed. When an emergency situation arises, you would roll off the bed and onto the ground. The closer your gun is to the edge, the faster you will be able to draw it. Every millisecond counts – something to always remember when you hide a gun in your bedroom. Quick firearm access above all!
7) Concealing your firearm against the inside frame of the bed
This gun magnet installation is similar to the “side of the bed” set up. However, instead of having the gun on the outside of the bed, it would be on the inside of the bed frame, underneath the bed.
Attach the gun magnet on the inside frame underneath the bed
PRO TIP: install the gun magnet on the bottom edge of the inner bed frame. Since you would have to reach under from the bed to grab the firearm, if positioned too high, your wrist may not be able to wind around the bed frame. Another fix for this is to have the handle of the gun sticking out from underneath the bed frame, allowing easy access to the gun.
8) Your turn
It may be difficult to roll out all these installations at once (also potentially unnecessary). Also, some of these solutions may not be suitable for you to hide a gun in your bedroom given different bedframe styles, furniture positioning, etc. However, if you find just one method here to use as your gun magnet/bedside gun holster protection system, your home will be that much more secure. So give it a try!
